Regional Training and Research Institute for Distance and Open Learning (RETRIDOL) is an academic directorate in the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) with the specific responsibility and expertise for training, development and research in Open and Distance Learning (ODL). It was established in August 2003 under a collaborative agreement with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Canada as a response to the growing demand for training and research in ODL in the West Africa sub-region specifically, and ultimately for the rest of Africa. Additionally, RETRIDOL responds to the training needs of institutions for deploying Technology Enabled Learning (TEL) interventions to increase access and build resilient educational systems.
