Background
The launch of ChatGPT in late 2022 ignited widespread interest and competition in generative AI tools, prompting varied responses to its use in educational contexts. UNESCO has developed a Guidance document which aims to facilitate the development of regulations, policies and human capacity for GenAI to empower educators and researchers, emphasising a human-centred approach rooted in ethics, inclusivity, equity, and diversity.

Workshop 2: Issues in Regulating the use of Generative AI in education and research – (Chapter 3 of UNESCO Guidance)

Workshop 3: Towards a policy framework for using Generative AI in education and research – (Chapter 4 of UNESCO Guidance)
Week 4
Workshop 4: Practical Considerations in the Application of Generative AI in education and research. – (Chapters 5 & 6 of UNESCO Guidance)

- Understand the concept and implications of generative AI in education and research
- Identify both the benefits and potential challenges of using GenAI in educational settings
- Explore ethical concerns including privacy, copyright, and data security

How to Participate
The workshops are free, but registration is mandatory. Please note that participants will be required to commit 4 hours per week to the training sessions, i.e. 2 hours for synchronous live sessions via Zoom and 2 hours for readings, quizzes, and other activities.
One of the ways classroom teachers can regulate the abuse of generative A I content is to be tactical with the use AI content in lesson preparations through avoidance of traces of AI content in their lesson content development. This will enable students to be their criticisms against inappropriate use of Ai generated contents
